Join our new Day Case Unit!

A new development!

The brand new state-of-the-art St Luke’s Day Case Unit is an £18 million investment to help tackle waiting times for operations, reduce health inequalities and promote the best outcomes for patients in Bradford and the surrounding area. The development is currently under construction and is due to be completed in May 2024.

Our new Day Case Unit is separate to Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS FT’s main Trust site and will be located in the existing St Luke’s site, bringing an expert team together to achieve the above objectives. Could you be part of the team?

“The idea is that it will reduce the waiting times quite significantly…”

We’re expanding to a brand new building which will hold two theatres and two wards, allowing for patients to receive procedures and return home on the same day. Join us to help our communities in Bradford…

High volume, low complexity

The unit’s aim is to deliver up to 5,760 planned outpatient procedures a year, freeing up an additional capacity for 1,200 operations a year at the current Day Case at the Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI).

The site will be made up of two Theatres running six days a week, with room for expansion! The planned building has been designed by our surgical team with patients and staff in mind, creating areas that flow into each other, as well as break rooms where staff can relax and decompress and each staff member will have their own locker.

Our careers in the Day Case Unit…

We have a building that is specialised, now we need the expert team to suit. There is a wide range of opportunities available at the new Day Case Unit, including Operating Department Practitioner, Housekeeper, Ward Nurse, Scrub Nurse and Surgeons.

We are also committed to ensuring our workforce is as diverse as our communities so we welcome applications from all backgrounds.
